The Iboga Visions, my debut novel (Hardback £12.99 NGT Publishing) will be launched on 11 November 2009 in Alloa Town Hall.

The evening will start promptly at 7.30 pm. Admission is free. A short reading by renowned playwright, Gerry Docherty, will be followed by an evening of traditional Scottish folk music and song with Gaberlunzie and other great musicians. It should be a terrific night’s entertainment so, everyone, old friends and new, please do come along. A prize raffle will be held with proceeds going to Erskine Hospital for war disabled. Signed first edition copies will be available for purchase on the night with all profits going to Erskine.

A contemporary anti-war novel, The Iboga Visions focuses on post traumatic stress syndrome, just one of the all too many tragic topics in the Iraq War. A macho Australian soldier is involved in the killing of innocent civilians at a road-block, and suffers a mental breakdown. We follow the next two years of his life as he recovers and begins to see the futility of war. On tracing his Scottish ancestors, a historical sub-plot - with the adventures of time travel - takes him back to 1916 and the nightmare his great-grandfather faces in the trenches of the Somme.
